A 2000 Toyota Mega Cruiser that was utilised on an Australian film set is going up for sale. The Mega Cruiser was initially intended as a military vehicle, drawing influence from the Humvee’s design. A small number of Mega Cruisers were later constructed for civilian usage by Toyota for the retail market. Less than 2,500 units of this specific Mega Cruiser were created; however, it is believed that only around 900 of them are still in existence. This Mega Cruiser is a military variant, as stated in the Lloyd’s auction advertisement.
It was brought to Australia to be used for the 2021 filming of Godzilla vs. Kong. Despite Lloyds’ statements that the automobile cannot be registered, it would be feasible to modify the Mega Cruiser to comply with Australian state rules, as was done with a handful of military Humvees that were imported despite their expensiveness. A 4.1-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine powers the Mega Cruiser, delivering 114kW and 382Nm to the axles through a four-speed Aisin gearbox produced in Japan and a two-speed centre differential lock.
Even though it is nearly 5 metres long, 4-wheel drive and a slip differential allow it go around tight curves and improve off-road grip. Torsen is limited, but it helps the rest of the time.
Though it is frequently believed that nothing can stop automakers from releasing their “beasts,” lately a strong typhoon prompted Toyota and Nissan to halt production at plants in southwest Japan this week. Although there are no specifics as of now on the quantity of cars that will be lost from production, the two firms will reduce shifts.
