Archer Aviation recently stated that it plans to construct roughly 250 battery-electric air taxis by 2025, with production ramping up in the following years after certifying its aircraft by the end of 2024. In an interview with Reuters, CEO Adam Goldstein stated:
“In our first year, we will build 250 aircraft, our second year will build 500 aircraft, our third year will build 650 aircraft, and then we scale it up to around 2,000 aircraft per year.”
Although the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is still in the midst of creating certification requirements for these futuristic aircraft, Archer hopes to certify its pilot-plus-four-passenger ‘Midnight’ aircraft by the end of 2024. According to JPM analyst Bill Peterson:
“From day one, Archer’s goal has been to build a commercially viable business that will revolutionize intra-city travel. We’ve made phenomenal progress in the development of our eVTOL aircraft technology, and I am excited to share the aircraft that will deliver on that vision as part of our Open House event.”
Shares of Archer have decreased 54% so far this year. Once certified, California-based firm Vertical Take-off and Landing’s electric aircraft will face off against other urban transportation innovators like Joby Aviation Inc. and Vertical Aerospace Ltd. in a congested market.
As you may remember, the first public flight of a flying automobile produced by the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Inc. took place in the United Arab Emirates. All of this is a component of the business’s strategy to introduce the product to global markets. The X2 is an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft with two seats. It is propelled by eight propellers, two of which are located at each corner.
